Glasgow Disc Golf

Starting on Sunday 2nd March 2014 a handicap league will be started at Rosshall.  This will run for 30 weeks every Sunday at 11am.  We will play a warm up round of 9 holes, then play a recorded 18 holes.

 

League fee >> we will charge players £10 for the entire season, 100% of this fee will be used to pay for trophies and given enough players also some prizes for people to win!  You may also play for fun for free, but you will not be able to win any of the prizes.

 

How do I win? >>  The total of your 10 best mean (handi cap) scores will be added together, the person with the lowest score wins!

 

Handicaping >>  A Players handicap is calculated using the following formula.  (Players ave score - SSA) * 80%

SSA is the scratch scoring average, or in english, the score you would expect a 'scratch player' to get round the course in.   As time goes by this will become more accurate, to begin with we will use the top 3 players ave score to work this out.

 

Equipment >> You will need only one bit of equipment if you do not already have it.  A PDGA sanctioned Golf Disc.  There are a few spare discs in my bag, but not enough to cater for the numbers we are already expecting.  You can buy a fairly cheap disc from www.catchthespirit.co.uk

For beginers I would recommend a stable mid range such as a buzz and a stable to slightly overstable putter like an Aviar or Psycho.  If you are not an experienced player stay away from the high speed distance drivers, you will only get frustrated! Trust me I know from experience!
